I have been crying a lot tonight. Did you watch the BBC drama - The C Word? It is still available to watch on iPlayer.
Excellent drama and very moving especially if you have been on the receiving end of the C word or have had a family member or friend who has.
One part though made me VERY angry. The consultant told Lisa not to Google breast cancer as it would be too frightening for her. She didn't and instead wrote an amazing blog and book.
However, I know if I hadn't Google it when I was told I had cancer, I wouldn't have had the courage to totally change my diet and lifestyle and discover that there thousands of people out there who have beaten cancer without conventional treatment.
I really want to make it my goal to educate people to take control and responsibility of their own health. Please share this with your family and friends because Cancer Research now say that 1 in 2 people will get a cancer diagnose at some point in their life. There are choices and they don't necessarily have to involve surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and toxic drugs. I had the surgery but nothing else.
Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have even had that. I am not knocking doctors at all. They do incredible work putting us back together after accidents - I wouldn't be walking around now after a horrendous accident after I was told I would possibly never walk again, if it weren't for their skills.
I just want people to realise they have choices and you should always investigate your options fully before embarking on something that will have serious long term effects on your health.
